Black burials in Wright Cemetery
Chandler, Okla.
—Winston Allen: d. 1922 but burials in Wright stopped in 1912. I’ve written the manager. The memorial was made in 2014, but is unlisted at okcemeteries, indicating Sherry Springer never saw it. He probably should be buried elsewhere.
—Elijah Beach & 3 kids: Waneata Beach Thompson, Mary Beach, Cora Glover (d 1906, FAG details say "adult (Col) gravesite purchased by E. Beach”)
—George Berry - d. 1904. Lot purchased by L. Berry. No data.
Annie Caldwell, wife of Moses, d. 1901. Her obit doesn’t say where she’s buried. FAG contributor Emily Jordan just put her in Wright because of the early death year. She probably belongs in Sweet Home with her father-in-law, Taylor Caldwell. She’s not listed at okcemeteries.
Chapman, F. A. d. 1900. Plot bought by J. C. Chapman. I don’t find records of these two. Can’t tell if they’re black or white.
—Frank Glover, d 1906, s/o Henry Clayton Glover.
—Rev. Thomas Cooper, “col” in the Chandler paper. Called “Elder” in 1899. Probate filed CH 2Mar00 by Charity Cooper. okcem has a photo of grave stone, showing his age as 66. Thus, b. 1833.
—Mrs. G. T. Daniels, d 1896, “colored” says obit. Her husband G.T. himself was pastor at Mt Pleasant Baptist Church. Unable to locate this church.
—Emet Snipes and probably A. J. Snipes too, who must have been kin.
